The Next Step

We are absolutely delighted to announce that Baysgarth House has been awarded a grant of £100,000 from FCC Communities Foundation, enabling us to move forward with Phase IIa of the restoration of this much-loved historic building.

This generous funding represents a major step forward in our vision to restore Baysgarth House and create a welcoming space where residents and visitors can explore, enjoy and discover the rich history of Barton.

The next phase of works will include:

• Renovation of two ground-floor exhibition rooms, including the restoration of shutters, underfloor heating, new flooring, reinstatement of the original archway and repairs to damaged plasterwork.

• Removal of the security shutters to restore the character and appearance of the rooms.

• Installation of an accessible ground-floor toilet.

• Renovation of the corridor, including repairs to windows and wooden shutters, new flooring and decoration.

• New interpretation and display boards telling the fascinating story of Baysgarth House.

While this award is a tremendous boost, there is still much work to do. We continue to seek donations and additional funding to help complete the various elements of Phase IIa and ensure this important building can be enjoyed by the whole community for generations to come.

Tomorrow we will be sharing details of how you can support the project directly, whether through a donation of any amount or by sponsoring an individual aspect of the restoration. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps bring us closer to completing the next phase of work and securing the future of Baysgarth House for generations to come.

For those interested in supporting the restoration, we are pleased to offer private Saturday tours by appointment. These tours provide an opportunity to learn more about Baysgarth House, the restoration work underway, and how you can help support the project.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to FCC Communities Foundation for their confidence in the project and to everyone who has supported Baysgarth House so far. Every contribution, large or small, brings us one step closer to breathing new life into this remarkable building and securing its future for the people of Barton.
